My boss's boss plays by the rules and does everything that is asked of him. He tries to act professionally at all times.
He is a fool. His peers gain far more influence and reward through their bad behaviour than he does through his virtue, for he has acceded to all demands without bargaining at all. This does not make him respected; in their eyes it marks him as weak.
He is cursed to be the good citizen that allows society to go on. If you look you can spot them in the crowds.
Stunned by the stupidity of others. Inhaling before the scream.
And holding the scream, deep inside, forever.

Rejection
I have a splinter that is deeply embedded. In the past few days it has come closer to the surface, as I expected, which will eventually allow me to remove it. The question I have is: how does the body know which way to move the foreign body?
Given that this must be the work of cells, and I suspect the immune cells, how do these cells located deep in the body know to push the object towards the "surface" which they may never directly deal with rather than another random direction?
Google yields me no easy answers, leading me with 3 options:
1) proceeding from first principles (flawed and silly)
2) finding other expert advice
3) the experimental process
I wonder if I have a microscope stashed away somewhere.....

Colbert tackles the important issues
This has been bothering me for years. I'm glad Colbert tackled this issue and took it all the way to the top!

The Drinking
Drinking loosens the inhibitions and leads us to do things we wouldn't normally do. Everyone talks about this in terms of risk-taking and romantic hookups but there is another side few address.
Crazy projects.
If you know some drinkers ask them about this. The amount of long projects started under the influence of alcohol is simply staggering. Something about the lessened impulse control leads to...work. Tech guys rebuild their computers from scratch, knitting, shop work...all powered by booze.
Being under the influence myself, I fall into my drunken habit...washing dishes.
Bizzare.

The Spirit
Just saw The Spirit last week. This is one seriously bad movie. Very bad. No, even worse than whatever you are thinking of. The dialogue is excruciating and the plot threadbare. Yet I have to admit I enjoyed the experience.
I chalk this up to a few factors. If you are a fan of any of Frank Miller's comic book you'll get a kick out of seeing actual human strike the poses from his previous works. Secondly, things mostly keep happening. Admittedly they are stupid things but with the exception of a few scenes (the hopping scene and the dialogue during the long very absurd scene) you won't get bored, just contemptuous.
The final reason is that I was quite intoxicated, which is the only way I recommend seeing this movie.
